Verizon is Re-validating Employee Discounts
Beginning April 1, Verizon Wireless is requiring customers that have an employee discount to re-validate their discount eligibility. This will help ensure that both Verizon Wireless and their customers have the most accurate, up-to-date information. There are several ways that you can ensure that you continue to receive your eligibile discount.
The Fastest way is to visit http://www.verizonwireless.com/renewdiscount. From there you can either validate by your work email address or emailing/uploading a recent paystub. A recent paystub is one within 30 days. A valid work email address must end in the business, so, for example, email@example.com is a valid work email address while firstname.lastname@example.org is not.
Additionally, if you do not have internet access, you can call the Employment Validation Processing Center at (800) 890-8007 and speak to a representative to begin the validation process. To complete the validation, mail a copy of a recent (60 days) paystub to

So what if you have changed employment since you originally set up your employee discount? If you are no longer employed by the company that partnered with Verizon Wireless to offer the discount and are asked to validate your eligibility, you will no longer qualify for the discount. But do not worry, Verizon Wireless partners with a significant number of large and small businesses to offer employee discounts. Visit http://www.verizonwireless.com/discounts to check for eligibility. If you have a spouse or family member on your plan that has a discount tied to a work email address, you can apply for the discount as well, but that must be done via email. If there is a family member on your plan with discount eligibilty, you may have to transfer the account into their name to qualify. Since this does not terminate service, the transfer of liability can typically be done without a contract termination fee. Only one employee discount can be on an account at the same time, so if multiple family members have employee discounts, you can't double-dip.
There has been a lot of traffic in the comments section about retiree discounts. Retiree/pensioner discounts are a case-by-case situation. Some companies have worked out deals that extend discounts to retirees, others do not. For the most accurate information, contact Verizon at the numbers below.
If you have any questions please contact the Verizon Employment Validation Processing Center at 800-890-8007 or Verizon's standard customer service center at 800-922-0204. They are the only ones who have direct access to employee discount records and can assist with validation. My abilities to respond to questions and comments are limited, so Verizon's official websites and phone numbers are the most reliable way to go.
